AVA DuVERNAY’S 14TH
OVERVIEW
A daughter of Los Angeles brought her newest work home. Ava DuVernay presented a first look at her latest documentary 14TH under the open sky at The Ford, a free screening and conversation powered by ARRAY Alliance.
Ten years after her Academy Award nominated 13TH chronicled the prison industrial complex and mass criminalization, 14TH exposes an unfinished battle to define America, now taking on drastic new dimensions.
The night commenced with music from DJ Trauma, an introduction from Comedian and Actor Lil Rel Howery, followed by a screening of 14TH and a live panel conversation featuring 14TH Director Ava DuVernay, Political Commentator Van Lathan, ACLU Deputy Executive Director Yasmin Cader and UC Irvine Professor of Law Robert Chang, moderated by MS Now’s Lawrence O’Donnell.
