Ava Duvernay is re-teaming with Netflix for an adaptation of New York Times bestseller Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.
DuVernay, who worked with the streamer on both her Oscar-nominated documentary The 13th and Emmy winning series When They See Us, will writer, direct and produce the feature version of Isabel Wilkerson’s novel.
The non-fiction book was published in August of this year is told through multiple real-life stories, and examines how American, throughout its history, has been shaped by caste system, a human hierarchy that dates back generations but still affects our present day.
