ARRAY Civics Class
How will you use your voice to make a difference? This call to action for Los Angeles residents was explored during ARRAY Civics Class, a one-night symposium where art and activism intersect. Attendees received essential tools for our empowerment such as understanding your rights, leveraging art and culture for social impact, and tips for mobilizing communities.
The program began with a keynote from Yasmin Cader, Director of the ACLU’s Trone Center for Justice & Equality,
followed by discussions about:
- Know Your Rights: Protest Activity Guide led by Summer Lacey of ACLU SoCal
- Know Your Rights: Immigration Guide led by Immigo LA
- The Role of Artists in Civics led by Kimberly Glann of LA County Dept. of Arts & Culture
- Mobilizing Communities for Engagement led by Malou Villacisneros and Hannah De Castro-Abinuman of Pilipino Workers Center
- Leveraging Culture for Social Impact led by Reanne Estrada of Public Matters
This collaborative forum provided a unique opportunity to learn from civic leaders, changemakers, and community organizations about how creative voices can lead the way in driving local change.
