Announced by the director Alberto Barbera the program of the Venice Film Festival 2023 , the 80th edition of the Venice International Film Festival scheduled on the Lido from 30 August to 9 September. There are 23 films in competition; 15 signed by directors for the first time at the Lido. The Italians selected for the Golden Lion are 6 Edoardo De Angelis (his film opened the Exhibition, Comandante , to replace Guadagnino’s Challegers , withdrawn due to the strikes of US actors and screenwriters), Pietro Castellitto, Saverio Costanzo, Giorgio Rights, Matteo Garrone and Stefano Sollima . Three women:Sofia Coppola, Ava DuVernay and Agnieszka Holland.

Micaela Ramazzotti was also present with Felicità , the debut of the actress behind the camera in the Extra Horizons section. While in Horizons, the main section, there are Liliana Cavani (the Lion for her career will be awarded to her) with L’ordine del Tempo (from the essay by Carlo Rovelli) and Luca Barbareschi with The Penitent.
